WTF! Puerto Rico blog: Favorite posts

These are my (The_PHP_Jedi) favorite posts from the blog "WTF! Puerto Rico".

I'm positive you'll laugh at many, and even admit that you encounter many of these situations daily. If you reach a blog post, click on the picture to make it larger.

Many thanks to the guys of "WTF! Puerto Rico" for publishing such an excellent blog! I'd blog about these things too if I had time, and... you know... a blog. ;) Fortunately there's Twitter.

Updated Jan 2008

El Nuevo Dia can now have its title as Governor of the state where Captain Obvious was born.
People always with their bad parking... and a clock says that an hour can have 81 minutes?!?
Breaking News! Puerto Rico has... traffic jams!!! ZOMFG PANIC END OF TEH WORLD!!!!
Traffic in a parking lot, as always, caused by people being uncourteous... and also, where do I go now?
Wee, I'm cooler than everyone because I've got fake gunshot stickers on my car!
So... do I go full speed, go slow, or stop until someone crashes into me?

Traffic

[Video] This happens all the time, even w/out trucks. Grandmas are very guilty, too.
Intersections w/out traffic lights are hell in PR.
Third exhibit of people always trying to get to the other side, and then realizing they're stuck in the middle of the damn intersection, causing even more traffic.
I'd really like to know how in the world this accident occured. It's things like this that make me afraid of driving in PR.
Ahh, the never-ending event of seeing people trying to cut lines in intersections. Or, in their defense, make last-minute decisions in the middle of an already congested avenue. The latter is highly unlikely.
Don't you love it when the cops are the ones creating traffic?
This is supposed to be a two-way road. Road take-overs occur more often than you'd think. It's scary, statistically.
Gotta love the gradual lane closings. It's like the three unannounced lane merges that occur within 200 feet of each other in the middle of a major highway.
Duct tape is strong... but is it strong enough to keep the car together, and additionally hold those boxes on the roof?

Infrastructure

Really. Who in the world decides to erect a utility pole in the side of a damn road?
This utility pole is even worse. It's in the corner of an intersection!
Bad paint jobs. They happen all the time. At least the police will be able to fine anyone stopped in the intersection, but not those parked in the unpainted yellow sidewalk...
They fix what's broken, but never fix what they're going to fix the next day, even if it's right besides them.

Ads

The locals will agree that we all hate the ads of ClasificadosOnline.com... at least they're thanking us for allowing them to pollute our streets w/ ads.
Oh, advertising caravans are nothing. Wait unitl you encounter a political caravan. You have police blocking all alternative routes, and thousands of cars ahead of you, and more political fans racing behind you.
Too many ads. Too many crooked ads.
More ads on fences...

Shipping fail

There's so many things wrong with this picture, I'm not even going to mention them.

Government/Politics

[Video] This is how the gov't takes care of abandoned cars, and unfortunately there's no tow trucks involved. They also did the same to my Dad's old car. It's not an isolated incident.
No comment. Actually, yes. Politicians' followers are crazy mad.

Religion

NOW! NOW NOW NOW! CHRIST IS COMING NOW! ZOMFG! RUN OUT OF YOUR CAR!
I think my GPS works better than my intuition. Also, another damn ClasificadosOnline ad on the other side.
Well, this is comforting. I definitely don't want you to make my commute any longer.
Dumbed down version of Science vs. Religion.

Rants

Don't honk your horn so often!
I also hate those late-night noise makers.

Cool Space picture

Nice pic from space. Great geographical detail.
